Utah’s NHL franchise announced Thurday they’re down to six possible names for their club in ahead of the 2025-26 season.

The six names are: Blizzard, Venom, Mammoth, Outlaws, Yeti and Hockey Club (Utah HC).

“More than 520,000 fans participated in the first phase of our multi-step process to help name Utah’s NHL team, and there were six names that were resounding fan favorites – accounting for 60 percent of the total vote,” the team announced in a press release.

“Now, it’s time for round two, and we just decided to go ahead and include all six of those options in this second voting pool to see which ones will come out on top as fans continue narrowing it down”

The Utah NHL franchise will wear jerseys that say “UTAH” on the front for the 2024-25 season. Once the team name is chosen, the team says they will spend the year “crafting a logo, mascot and other branding elements, which will debut for the 2025-26 NHL season.”

The franchise has been very busy since the NHL’s Board of Governors officially approved the relocation of the Arizona Coyotes to Salt Lake City, Utah. The team will play in the Delta Center starting in October, remaining a member of the Central Division.

“As everyone knows, Utah is a vibrant and thriving state, and we are thrilled to be a part of it,” NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman said in a league statement. “We are also delighted to welcome Ashley and Ryan Smith to the NHL family and know they will be great stewards of the game in Utah. We thank them for working so collaboratively with the League to resolve a complex situation in this unprecedented and beneficial way.”
