Canucks prospect Anri Ravinskis joins Latvia’s Olympic team as injury replacement

The Vancouver Canucks expected to have six players representing the organization at the 2026 Milano-Cortina Olympics in February, with every team outside of the host nation, Italy, having announced its roster.
On Tuesday, though, that number vaulted up to seven, as 22-year-old prospect Anri Ravinskis was named to Latvia’s team for the men’s hockey tournament as an injury replacement for Washington Capitals prospect Eriks Mateiko, who suffered an injury over the weekend.
Ravinskis signed with the Canucks in May after success in the Finnish Liiga, where he scored 8 goals and 17 points in 27 games with HPK Hameenlinna, before moving to North America.
A native of Riga, Latvia’s capital, he underwent surgery in the summer, missing preseason and the start of the AHL season with Abbotsford, before making his debut on Oct. 17. Since then, he has posted two goals and three points in 22 AHL games, while also spending time as a healthy scratch. Since December, he has only played twice for the defending Calder Cup champions.
RAVI IS OLYMPIC BOUND‼️ Anri Ravinskis has been named to Latvia’s roster as an injury replacement for the Olympic Winter Games!
By joining the Olympic roster, he continues to build on his international experience, having played at the World Junior level and at the 2025 World Championships, where he recorded a goal and 2 points in 7 games as one of the nation’s younger talents.
He won’t be the only player from the Canucks organization on the team either, as he joins up with NHL Canucks forward Teddy Blueger, as well as former Abbotsford and Vancouver Canuck goaltender Artūrs Šilovs.
The tournament features three groups of four, with Latvia set to take on the highly touted Team USA, a medal-contending German team, and Denmark. The top two teams in each group advance directly to the quarterfinals, while the other teams take on a qualification round.
The gold medal game is set for Feb. 22.
