Goldeneyes re-sign Madison Samoskevich to one-year contract
A youngster has signed a new deal in the Pacific Northwest.
On Tuesday, the Vancouver Goldeneyes announced that the team has re-signed forward Madison Samoskevich to a one-year contract for the 2026-27 season.
Samoskevich, 23, who spent her rookie campaign on a one-year deal as well, was protected by the Goldeneyes during the PWHL Expansion Player Distribution Process after receiving a qualifying offer.
Samoskevich came to the expansion team after Vancouver selected her in the fifth round, 39th overall, of the 2025 PWHL Draft. The twin sister of Seattle Kraken forward Mackie Samoskevich struggled to find the scoring touch that made her a solid offensive asset in college, scoring just one goal in 27 games. She registered a plus/minus of -2 while averaging 6:19 of ice time per game. The Sandy Hook, Conn. native and her team ended up missing the Walter Cup Playoffs in their inaugural campaign, finishing sixth in the final standings. However, the Goldeneyes managed to lock up the first-overall pick in the 2026 draft, earning enough Draft Order points, leading to the franchise taking Caroline Harvey No. 1 in Detroit in June.
Prior to turning pro, Samoskevich was a solid scorer at Quinnipiac University. She averaged over 20 points in each of her final three seasons as a Bobcat, helping the team reach the NCAA Tournament in the 2021-22 and 2022-23 campaigns. In her senior season, she set career highs in goals (8) and points (22) in 38 contests. In 168 career games in the NCAA, Samoskevich posted 19 goals and 65 assists for 84 points.
Samoskevich has some international hardware on her trophy case. She represented the United States at the 2019 IIHF Under-18 Women’s World Championship, posting two points in five games, as the Americans fell to Canada in the gold medal contest.
With the signing, the Goldeneyes have 18 players signed to standard contracts for next season. They can add one more player to the roster before training camp begins in November.
