Are the Golden Knights the best team in the Pacific division?

The Eastern Conference has gotten most of the attention for being a logjam this season, and for good reason, but no single division has been more tightly contested than the Pacific Division. Entering Friday’s games, just five points seperate the Pacific’s first-placed team and sixth-placed team.
At the top of the Division is a two-way tie between the Vegas Golden Knights and the Edmonton Oilers. Vegas has two games in hand on Edmonton, plus they won the division last year. The Oilers, however, resoundingly defeated the Golden Knights in the second round of last year’s postseason, plus they have this guy named Connor McDavid. Both teams have just a plus-one goal differential. It’ll be tight race through the end of the season in the Pacific, with Vegas, Edmonton, and the division’s other contenders jockeying for the top spot.
On Friday’s episode of Daily Faceoff LIVE, hosts Tyler Yaremchuk and former NHL goaltender Carter Hutton discussed whether or not the Golden Knights are the best team in the Pacific.
Tyler Yaremchuk: Do you think the Golden Knights are the best team in this division?
Carter Hutton: I struggle with that. I think right now because of the goalie woes for both of those teams, it’s a bit of a crapshoot. You look at the Edmonton Oilers are what’s gone on, can Tristan Jarry get healthy? Can Adin Hill get healthy and be the guy? So I think that is concerning.
But when I do look at Vegas, they look like more of the complete team right now. But because of the fact that Edmonton has been to the cup finals so many times, I don’t think I would ever take the Vegas Golden Knights over them in a cup final. But to win the division is a different animal, and I do still think that the Vegas Golden Knights are the favorite to win that Pacific Division for me.
