A playoff-bound team will be missing a couple of players on Tuesday night.

Vegas Golden Knights head coach Bruce Cassidy says forwards Chandler Stephenson and Anthony Mantha will both be out of the lineup for the team’s matchup with the Chicago Blackhawks with undisclosed injuries.

Cassidy clarified both injuries are day-to-day and are not considered serious.

Stephenson has been fairly healthy this season, though he missed a couple of games in November due to an upper-body injury. He also was out last Wednesday for the birth of his child.

The 29-year-old is in the final year of a four-year contract he signed with the Golden Knights in October 2020, carrying a $2.75 million AAV. Stephenson’s production has dipped a little compared to last season, in which he played a key role in helping Vegas win the franchise’s first Stanley Cups. In 75 games this year, he has notched 16 goals and 51 points, down from 65 points in 81 games during the 2022-23 campaign.

The two-time Stanley Cup champion has scored 89 goals and 181 assists in 495 NHL games, including 38 points in 88 playoff games.

Mantha, who was acquired by the Golden Knights from the Washington Capitals before the trade deadline, has played 18 games with Vegas, scoring three goals and 10 points over that span. In 74 total games this year, the former Detroit Red Wing has registered 23 goals and 44 points.

In 494 NHL appearances, the 29-year-old has put up 142 goals and 154 assists, with six assists in 11 playoff games with the Caps.

With two games left in the regular season, the Golden Knights (44-28-8) are trying to sneak into the top three of the Pacific Division. Heading into Tuesday night, they hold the second Wild Card spot, sitting one point behind the Los Angeles Kings for third in the division. Vegas has a game in hand on the Kings.
