Golden Knights’ Mitch Marner to miss game vs. Blues for birth of child

The Marner family is growing.
Forward Mitch Marner will be unavailable for the Vegas Golden Knights on the road for their Thursday night game against the St. Louis Blues as he and his partner, Stephanie Marner, await the birth of their second child. The team confirmed his status ahead of puck drop, after the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported that Marner and his wife were expecting the newborn.
The Marner’s first child was born in May 2025, Miles Daniel Marner, with the birth happening just before Game 1 of the round two Stanley Cup Playoff series against the Florida Panthers, when Mitch was still a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Now in his second season with the Golden Knights, the 29-year-old Marner has a pair of goals and 10 assists for 11 points in 11 regular season games this season, as he looks to build on his 24 goals, 56 assists and 80-point campaign from last season’s 81 games and eventual advancement to the Stanley Cup Final.
In his place for Thursday’s contest, Alexander Holtz is set to draw into the lineup for his NHL season debut.
The 24-year-old native of Stockholm, Sweden, played in 28 games with the Golden Knights last season, scoring three goals and six assists for nine points. This season, he has enjoyed a strong start in the AHL with the Henderson Silver Knights, scoring four goals and four assists for eight points in eight games.
Vegas enter Thursday’s road matchup with the Blues sitting first in the Western Conference’s Pacific Division with an 8-3-0 record, and will be back on the ice on the road against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday night before returning home to T-Mobile Arena for a pair of home games next week against the Ottawa Senators and New Jersey Devils.
