The 20-year-old Swedish netminder was drafted by the Golden Knights in the seventh round (No. 222) in the 2021 NHL Draft. He most recently played in Sweden’s HockeyAllsvenskan with Djurgårdens IF where he posted a record of 25-11-0 to go along with a 1.86 goals against average and a .914 save percentage. He was named the league’s Goalie of the Year and Rookie of the Year after his stellar performance.
Lindbom also represented Sweden at the 2023 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship. He was the only goaltender to see action for Sweden and posted two shutouts, the most out of any goalie and a 2.64 goals-against average and .914 save percentage in seven games to help his team to a 4-3 record during the tournament. He also earned a bronze medal with Sweden during the World Junior Championship in 2022.
EliteProspects offered this scouting report in their 2021 NHL Draft guide regarding the Swedish netminder, “Carl is a quick, athletic goalie, quick on his feet, and ultra-competitive, too.”
Lindbom ciould start next season in the American Hockey League with the Golden Knights affiliate the Henderson Silver Knights where he will battle for a starting goalie position with Jiri Petera, who saw NHL action with the Golden Knights in 2022-23. However, sources seem to indicate that he will be on Loan to Färjestad in the Swedish Hockey League.
