Golden Knights sign Lukas Cormier to one-year contract

The Vegas Golden Knights have come to terms with a homegrown player to keep him in their organization.

The financial details of the deal have yet to be disclosed. Cormier had been a restricted free agent prior to this contract.
Cormier, 24, played in 49 games for Vegas’ American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate Henderson Silver Knights last season, putting up eight goals and 39 assists for 47 points. He then contributed two goals and three assists for five points in Henderson’s six playoff games.
The Sainte-Marie-de-Kent, New Brunswick native was intially selected by the Golden Knights from the Charlottetown Islanders of the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) in the third round of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. In his final junior season of 2021-22, Cormier led all QMJHL defensemen in scoring with 33 goals and 48 assists for 81 points in 62 games. He then contributed eight goals and 13 assists for 21 points in 15 games during Charlottetown’s playoff run.
Since becoming a full-time professional, Cormier has appeared in just two NHL games, both occurring in the 2023-24 season, and registered one assist. Excepting those two games, he has seen all his action at the AHL level with Henderson. In the 2022-23 season, his first as a pro, he had 10 goals and 25 assists for 35 points in 62 games. In the 2023-24 season, he played 58 games for the Silver Knights and put up four goals and 16 assists for 20 points. He only played 19 games in the 2024-25 season due to injury, in which he had no goals and nine assists.
At 5’11” and 184 pounds, Cormier is a slightly undersized left-handed defenseman known for his shooting ability and playmaking.
