Vegas Golden Knights sign Max Comtois to PTO

Vegas Golden Knights general manager Kelly McCrimmon announced that the club has signed free agent forward Max Comtois to a professional tryout agreement on Tuesday.
Comtois did not receive a qualifying offer from the Anaheim Ducks following the 2022-23 season. He will attend Golden Knights training camp to battle for a roster spot.

— Chris Johnston (@reporterchris) September 12, 2023The 24-year-old notched 19 points and 81 hits in 64 games with the Ducks during the 2022-23 season. Comtois spent parts of five seasons with the Ducks, who initially selected him as No. 50 overall in the 2017 NHL Draft.
Comtois appeared in 210 games throughout his time with the Ducks, tallying 38 goals and 48 assists for 86 points. During the 2020-21 season, Comtois led the Ducks in goals, assists and points with 33 in 55 games. That summer, he signed a two-year, $4,075,000 contract extension, which had an average annual value (AAV) of $2,037,500.
Prior to his pro career, the Longueuil, Quebec product spent four seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) with the Drummondville Voltigeurs and the Victoriaville Tigres. Comtois tallied 123 goals and 121 assists for 244 points in 205 career games. In 2015-16, he was named to the QMJHL All-Rookie Team, and the following season played at the CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game.
Internationally, Comtois has represented Canada across the globe multiple times. He captured a gold medal with the World Juniors squad in 2017-18, registering six points in seven games. The following year, he was named captain of the Under-20 squad. In 2020-21, Comtois won a gold medal at the World Championship, where he registered six points in 10 games and a silver medal during the 2021-22 tournament.
