Victor Mete, Jan Jenik, Lucas Carlsson headline Oct. 2 waiver wire

Philadelphia Flyers’ defenseman Victor Mete, Florida Panthers’ defenseman Lucas Carlsson and Arizona Coyotes’ forward Jan Jenik were among the 29 players placed on waivers by NHL teams on Monday.

Mete, 25, has played in 247 career NHL games, scoring five goals, 40 assists and 45 points since 2017-18. Last season, he played 11 games with the Toronto Maple Leafs and six games with their AHL affiliate, the Toronto Marlies.

Carlsson, 26, scored 20 goals, 34 assists and 54 points in 61 games with the Charlotte Checkers in the AHL last season. In 60 career NHL games, he has three goals, eight assists and 11 points.

Jenik, 23, scored seven goals, 16 assists and 23 points in 30 games last season with the Coyotes’ AHL affiliate, the Tucson Roadrunners.

Two players were claimed out of the 45 waived on Sunday: Samuel Fagemo by the Nashville Predators, and Jansen Harkins by the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Fagemo, 23, was taken in the second round by the Los Angeles Kings in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. In 13 career NHL games, he’s scored two goals, one assists for three points.

Fagemo joined the Ontario Reign, the Kings’ AHL affiliate, in 2020-21. Over three seasons, he’s scored 60 goals, 34 assists and 94 points in 151 games.

Harkins, 26, split the 2022-23 season between the Winnipeg Jets and their AHL affiliate, the Manitoba Moose. With the Jets, he scored three goals, two assists and five points in 22 games, while with Manitoba, he scored 25 goals, 25 assists for 50 points in 44 games.

Harkins was taken in the second round by the Winnipeg Jets in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. In 154 career NHL games, Harkins has 13 goals, 14 assists for 27 points.
