Some roster movement from the team in the U.S. capital.

On Monday, Washington Capitals head coach Spencer Carbery announced that forward Dylan Strome is considered day-to-day with a lower-body injury. He will not be traveling with the team as it prepares to face the Dallas Stars on Tuesday night.

The news comes hours after the Capitals called up forward Ethen Frank from their American Hockey League affiliate, the Hershey Bears. Defenseman Rasmus Sandin remains out as well, per Carbery. The Caps’ head coach didn’t say which of Sandin or Strome would be placed on injured reserve in order to open up a roster spot for Frank to be inserted into the lineup.

Strome has been off the ice since he left just a few minutes into the first period of the team’s matchup with the Ottawa Senators this past Saturday. He was tripped up by Senators defenseman Artem Zub before crashing into the endboard with teammate Jakob Chychrun. Strome remained on the bench briefly before being ruled out for the rest of the game.

Strome had played in each of Washington’s first nine games of the season, scoring two goals and eight assists for 10 points. The 28-year-old is leading with team in assists, while only trailing Tom Wilson in overall scoring.

The Mississauga, Ont. native is coming off the best season of his NHL career. In 82 games, he set career highs in goals (29), assists (53) and points (82), helping the Capitals finish with the best record in the Eastern Conference.

This is the second time this season has been called up to the big club. He played twice last week, posting an assist in a 5-1 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets last Thursday. The former Western Michigan star has scored a pair of goals with the Bears this season.

In 26 NHL games, Frank has scored four goals and four assists for eight points.
