After last night’s jaw-dropping trade that saw the Los Angeles Kings send franchise goaltender Jonathan Quick to the Columbus Blue Jackets, Daily Faceoff insider Frank Seravalli discussed what’s next for the two-time Stanley Cup champ.

Could the Blue Jackets do something to facilitate a trade to a playoff contender?

Frank Seravalli: Let’s start with the Columbus Blue Jackets and they’ve got a few irons in the fire. Jonathan Quick as we reported last night flew back to Los Angeles with the team and did not remain in Winnipeg to fly to Columbus. We’re told that Quick is currently in a holding pattern, the Blue Jackets are trying to facilitate to another playoff team. The goalie market has now opened up a little bit with Korpisalo moving.

So, that provides the Blue Jackets, even if it’s for a late-round pick as they aren’t worried about the return, they just want to try and do right by Jonathan Quick and send him toward a playoff team. You know he goes from a playoff-bound Kings team, the only team he’s ever known, to the 32nd-placed team in the league for the final six weeks of his contract. That’s certainly a tough pill to swallow and I’m sure Quick and his camp are regrouping on Wednesday.
