After years of surprising everyone with their consistent play and Atlantic Division title chases, the Boston Bruins might finally be looking mortal during the regular season.

Despite only being one game below .500 heading into Wednesday night’s action, the Bruins are sitting tied for last in the division with the Buffalo Sabres and Montreal Canadiens. Sure, there were plenty of distractions off the ice heading into the season, but with the team at full capacity, once the puck dropped, Boston has been mediocre.

This is most noticeable on the scoresheet. Through 10 games, the Bruins have scored 27 goals, tied for the sixth-fewest in the NHL. Even with the likes of David Pastrnak, Brad Marchand and Elias Lindholm, Boston seemingly can’t put the puck in the back of the net.

The team has scored just seven goals over the last five games, including getting shut out by the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday night. Captain Marchand has just one goal thus far, while Pastrnak leads the team with six, currently the only Bruin with at least five goals in 2024-25.

On Wednesday’s edition of Daily Faceoff LIVE, Frank Seravalli and Tyler Yaremchuk discuss the numbers and whether alarm bells should be ringing in New England.

Frank Seravalli: I’m really not concerned about the Bruins…Among their even-strength goals for, their top three lines have combined for four even-strength goals…That’s ugly. You would think Marchand, coming off three separate off-season surgeries, he will get going. He deserves a bit of a grace period. David Pastrnak will continue to heat up…Their defense is also too good for this team to be really bad.

They can’t score themselves. If those are the outings that you have [regarding the loss to the Flyers], I tend to lean toward luck than anything else. Even though they’re not generating a lot, I think it’s going to happen.
