Which new team on Dylan Larkin’s trade list is the most intriguing?

As the 2026-27 season continues, the question of where Detroit Red Wings center Dylan Larkin will land remains.
The Michigan native broke the news cycle this past summer by asking for a trade from his hometown team. At first, Larkin only wanted to go to just the Florida Panthers, Minnesota Wild, and Vegas Golden Knights. However, that list has since expanded all the way to 10 teams, with the former Detroit captain reportedly being open to joining the Carolina Hurricanes, New Jersey Devils or even the upstart Utah Mammoth.
While the defending Stanley Cup champion Hurricanes is appealing, the Mammoth and Devils, two teams who can compete for a playoff spot but aren’t solidified contenders, are certainly eye-opening to many around the game.
On Wednesday’s edition of Daily Faceoff LIVE, Tyler Yaremchuk and Carter Hutton discuss which new teams on Larkin’s preferred list are most intriguing.
Carter Hutton: The one that jumps off immediately is Utah. With their depth now, with Anders Lee and Vincent Trocheck, if Larkin was to go there, they become a powerhouse in the Central Division. It’ll be interesting to see what the Wings do.
For me, I think the best immediate fit would be Carolina or Minnesota. Adding that depth, Carolina’s already a powerhouse. Larkin’s a guy who can create so much with his speed, with the way he defends in the D-zone. Minnesota, it could be just another center that could spread the offense…aybe take off some pressure out of the dynamic duo of Kaprizov and Hughes. So, there’s a lot to go off. I know we’re getting sick of beating this way. I just want something to happen here.
Tyler Yaremchuk: The one team that kind of made me go like, ‘Oh, really?’ was New Jersey. Just because we haven’t heard a ton about them in this conversation, they’ve been talked about a lot in the Connor Hellebuyck sweepstakes over the last 6-7 weeks here. When I look at New Jersey, Dawson Mercer’s in the final year of his deal before he’s an RFA. That’s a good young roster player….There’s a good young piece that they could get back. You could look on the blue line if Detroit is forced to or has to trade Simon Edvinsson.
