Even though we are just one month into the 2026-27 season, some teams are looking to explore trade options to better their teams.

With every team having played 10 games in the expanded 84-game schedule, organizations have enough of a sample size to gauge where their rosters are, and what they might need to improve on in order to be considered legitimate threats to make it to the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

On Wednesday’s edition of Daily Faceoff LIVE, David Pagnotta joined Tyler Yaremchuk and Carter Hutton to discuss what teams might be looking to make deals in the near future.

David Pagnotta: Chicago is actively looking to add somebody on their wing. Los Angeles is actively looking to add up front, be it at the center position or on the wing. They want to add more offense. Buffalo’s another team that is looking to add some offense as well. There are a lot of teams that are starting to look around and see, ‘Okay, what options are going to be available to us now, and what options may be available to us a little bit later on?’ I’m told the Canucks and Flames are in that mix as well, especially Calgary, that’s really beefed up its blue line future-wise. They’re starting to look around to see what options may be available to them up front. Vancouver’s in an interesting position because they’ve got some pieces to sell, and they’re looking to add those younger pieces. Similar strategy to Philly, in terms of bringing in guys that are going to help grow with some of your other young players. Vancouver, L.A., Calgary, Seattle in the mix as well, at least teams that have poked around, you know, on on that front.

Washington is looking to see if they can maximize a return [for Ivan Miroshnichenko] in this regard. I know there were reports of a couple draft picks or something like that. I think they might want to be a little bit more creative. At least that’s the you know word that I’ve been getting, but we’ll see. They don’t also want that to drag out too long, especially now that him and his camp you know have permission to help out to try to to try to seek out a trade. But a lot of teams are looking at where they’re at going, ‘Man, we could use some more scoring.’ There’s only so much to go around, but these teams are looking.
