Which players should the Predators move on from?

The Nashville Predators are in the midst of another nightmarish start to the season, sitting in last place in the Central Division with a 6-9-4 record.
While Friday brought the team an exciting win in Sweden with franchise player Filip Forsberg getting to play the hero, it still feels unlikely that a 2023-24 type of momentum swing is coming to save this Predators season.
General manager Barry Trotz showed with his public comments last year that he would not hesitate to pivot toward rebuild mode if that season continued to go south, and he made good on that promise by selling at the deadline. It’s easy to see things reaching a similar point this time around, and there are several veterans on the roster like Ryan O’Reilly and Steven Stamkos who could be of interest to contending teams.
On Thursday’s episode of Daily Faceoff LIVE, host Tyler Yaremchuk and co-host and former NHL goaltender Carter Hutton discussed what a teardown in Nashville could look like in practice should the slide continue in the Music City.
Tyler Yaremchuk: I think there’s a chance that the Predators just get more for all of these guys that they’re looking to move out in the summer. They all have term. Think about Filip Forsberg. I guess a team like a Montreal or an Anaheim, they would probably like to have Filip Forsberg. But you would probably also have a whole lot of true Stanley Cup contenders lining up for that guy, giving you multiple high quality assets if you were willing to move him this summer… I think about Saros as well, Jonathan Marchessault’s another name.
Carter Hutton: Do some of these guys want to leave Nashville? It is Nashville. A lot of guys love it there. This is a destination city where guys want to play. They want to be part of that organization. There is the fact of the rebuild, but teams would be lining up to try to add a player like Filip Forsberg.
