The injury bug has bitten the Minnesota Wild as on Tuesday the club announced that defenseman Jonas Brodin and center Jakub Lauko have been added to the injured reserve.

In an additional move, the Wild also shifted veteran right winger Mats Zuccarello to the long-term injured reserve. Zuccarello has been out of the lineup for the past eight games after undergoing lower-body surgery.

On the season, Zuccarello has been one of the Wild’s more productive forwards, where through 16 appearances he has collected six goals and eight assists for 14 points. Zuccarello finished fourth in Wild scoring a year ago, putting up 63 points counting 12 goals and 51 assists in 69 games. The 37-year-old Norway native is in his sixth campaign with Minnesota and is under contract for one more season, carrying a $4.125-million annual average value, per PuckPedia.

On the back end, Brodin has been one of the Wild’s top defenders this season, averaging more than 22 minutes of ice time per night, second to only fellow rearguard Brock Faber. Through 19 appearances in 2024-25, the Swedish-born blue-liner has registered two goals and six assists for eight points. Up front, Lauko has tallied four points counting two goals and two assists in 21 outings. The Czech-born forward is competing in his first campaign with the Wild after spending part of the past two seasons with the Boston Bruins.

Following the transactions, the Wild also announced Tuesday that left winger Liam Ohgren and goaltender Jesper Wallstedt have been recalled from the Iowa Wild, the club’s top minor-league affiliate. With Iowa this season, Ohgren has posted six points in eight games, while Wallstedt owns a 3-6-1 showing alongside an .860 save percentage and 4.34 goals-against average through 10 appearances.

Minnesota sits first place in the NHL with a 16-4-4 record and 36 points.
