Will the Oilers run it back with their goalie tandem?

While the Edmonton Oilers are in the midst of some off-ice drama, many are wondering what parts of the team will look like on the ice next fall, particularly in between the pipes.
This past season, the Oilers rode the tandem of Connor Ingram and Tristan Jarry into the Stanley Cup Playoffs, with Ingram taking over the starting role after Jarry had his share of struggles since coming over from the Pittsburgh Penguins. While Ingram was solid, he wasn’t good enough to take Edmonton on another deep postseason run, as the team bowed out to the Anaheim Ducks in the first round.
On Thursday’s edition of Daily Faceoff LIVE, Kevin Woodley of InGoal Magazine joined Tyler Yaremchuk and Carter Hutton to discuss whether Jarry and Ingram will be the same duo manning the crease in Edmonton next season.
Kevin Woodley: I will tell you this. When we look at the list of free agent goaltenders, I’ll let you guys guess guys who had the best, out of all the guys that are heading into free agency, who had the best adjusted say percentage over the past season. It’s Connor Ingram. I know the playoffs did not go as planned, and he hasn’t had a ton of playoff experience, but he was pretty good in the regular season. I think my criticism, and I’ve been consistent throughout of the way that was handled, is going into the year after they acquired Connor Ingram…he had the highest upside of the guys that they had under contract playing for them.
You were probably not going to see it in the American Hockey League. Yes, you needed to give him a chance to get settled, but you weren’t going to see the best of him in the AHL. He reads the game really well, like a lot of what he does is based on reads, and the AHL is just a little more chaotic game, and so my criticism was that they did not get a look at him in the National Hockey League before they made the trade. The guy that from the outside and the numbers said had your highest upside, never even gave him a sniff to see if he would fit, until after you traded your number one for a would-be other number one with more years left on his contract. If you had known Connor Ingram would be your guide, do you make that trade or do you maybe make a different trade? You had him sitting there.
