The Winnipeg Jets pulled off one of the greatest regular-season comebacks in NHL history against the Montreal Canadiens Tuesday night, scoring four goals in a two-minute span at the end of the third period to send the game to overtime, where Dylan Samberg sealed it with the OT-winner.

The comeback started midway through the third period when Tyrel Bauer took Arber Xhekaj in a fight, followed by captain Adam Lowry dropping the gloves with Florian Xhekaj. The Jets then scored five straight goals on goaltender Jacob Fowler, including two in the final minute by forward Kyle Connor, to complete one of the most shocking results in modern hockey history.

On Wednesday’s episode of Daily Faceoff LIVE, Tyler Yaremchuk and former NHL goaltender Carter Hutton discuss Winnipeg’s historic win over the Habs and if it saved their season.

Tyler Yaremchuk: I don’t know if it’s just in the moment, but this does something. In that room, this is better than if they just won the game 2-1 and squeaked one out that they didn’t deserve. This has to be galvanizing for that group.

Carter Hutton: It’s gotta be. The storyline around Tyrel Bauer and Adam Lowry getting in scraps.

You’ve got a younger guy in Bauer taking a fight against Arber Xhekaj. Xhekaj knows he’s a younger guy trying to cut his teeth. All of a sudden, Bauer scores a goal to create momentum.

They played great and found a way to come back. I think this is a huge moment for the Winnipeg Jets. At a pivotal point where they just lost nine straight, are they going to stick around after they traded Connor Hellebuyck? Or are they going to weed yourself off into the sunset?
