Jets sign top prospect Viggo Bjorck to entry-level contract

One of the top prospects coming out of this year’s NHL Draft is officially coming to North America.
On Monday, the Winnipeg Jets announced that the team has signed forward Viggo Björck to a three-year, entry-level contract. The deal will carry an NHL AAV of $1.075 million.
Björck was taken by the Jets in the first round, eighth overall, of last month’s draft. It became clear that he intended to join his new team when he left his Swedish club, Djurgården IF of the Swedish Hockey League, last week.
While he wasn’t as highly-regarded as Gavin McKenna or Ivar Stenberg, Björck is an exceptional talent who can be a useful asset down the middle in North America. Even though he has some growing to do, standing 5-foot-10 and weighing only 172 pounds, the 18-year-old has the skill and willingness to play tough that was enticing to many teams in the NHL.
Bjorck is a little over a year removed from breaking the J20 Nationell scoring record, posting an outstanding 74 points in 42 games during the 2024-25 campaign. He became a full-time member of Djurgården’s top team this past season, scoring six goals and nine assists for 15 points, working his way onto the team’s top line. He also added three points in three playoff games.
Björck also had quite a high this past January, as he played a key part in helping Sweden win gold at the 2026 IIHF World Junior Championship. With three goals and six assists in the tournament, his nine points placed him tied for seventh in scoring, third on Sweden behind Stenberg and Jack Berglund. Björck went on to play for Sweden at the IIHF World Junior Championship this past spring, posting six points in eight games, the most by an under-18 player in Switzerland.
Björck has also won bronze at the 2024 Hlinka Gretzky Cup and Under-17 World Hockey Challenge, and silver at the 2025 IIHF Under-18 Men’s World Championship.
