Jets’ Vladislav Namestnikov leaves game against Ducks with lower-body injury
The Winnipeg Jets announced that forward Vladislav Namestnikov left Friday’s game against the Anaheim Ducks with a lower-body injury and would not return.
INJURY UPDATE: #NHLJets F - Vlad Namestnikov will not return to tonight’s game due to a lower body injury.
The injury occurred after Namesntikov was tripped and made contact with teammate Adam Lowry. He went down the tunnel for evaluation but did not return.
Adam Lowry draws a penalty against the Ducks, but as the play continued Vladislav Namesntikov collided with Lowry (as he was tripped and fell) and Namestnikov appears to be dealing with a knee/leg issue. Namestnikov heads down the tunnel for further evaluation.
Namestnikov finished the night with 3:51 of ice time. The Ducks defeated the Jets 5-4 in overtime.
The 33-year-old forward has seven goals and six assists for 13 points in 57 regular-season games. In 13 NHL seasons, Namestnikov has 144 goals and 205 assists for 349 points in 842 career regular-season games with the Jets, Tampa Bay Lightning, New York Rangers, Detroit Red Wings, Ottawa Senators, Dallas Stars and Colorado Avalanche.
Namestnikov has also played in 70 career Stanley Cup Playoff games, scoring 10 goals and 10 assists for 20 points.
Taken by the Lightning in the first round of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, Namestnikov spent two seasons with the Ontario Hockey League’s London Knights, where he recorded 52 goals and 87 assists for 139 points in 131 regular-season games.
He then spent parts of three seasons with the AHL’s Syracuse Crunch, where he scored 40 goals and 64 assists for 104 points in 134 regular-season games.
The Jets are now 23-26-9 with 55 points, sixth in the Central Division and eight points out of a Wildcard spot in the Western Conference.
