Zach Aston-Reese signs two-year contract with Flyers

As free agent frenzy rolls on throughout the NHL on Wednesday, the Philadelphia Flyers are on the board again with another signing.
According to his agent Dan Milstein, Zach Aston-Reese has signed a two-year contract with the Flyers that will pay him $850,000 in year one and $900,000 in year two at the NHL level with an overall minimum of $700,000.
Aston-Reese is a nine-year veteran of the NHL who first broke in with Pittsburgh in the 2017-18 season. The Staten Island native has also made stops with the Anaheim Ducks, Toronto Maple Leafs, Detroit Red Wings and Columbus Blue Jackets, where he spent both of the past two seasons.
The 31-year-old, who typically posts strong defensive metrics, had 5 points in 27 games played with the Jackets last season, and he’s racked up 102 points in 416 games over the course of his entire career.

General manager Daniel Briere and the rest of the Flyers front office have been busy on Wednesday. Earlier, they added another depth forward in veteran Noel Acciari, who joins the club for a two-year term at a price tag of $2.8 million.
They also locked down a key member of their core, signing winger Tyson Foerster to an eight-year contract extension that will kick in at the start of the 2027-28 season and carry a salary cap hit of $7.1 million.
The Flyers are looking to supplement a solid young core after a successful season that saw them take second place in the Metropolitan Division and oust their in-state rival Pittsburgh Penguins in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs before bowing out against the eventual Stanley Cup champion Carolina Hurricanes in the second round.
