Canadiens sign Zach Bolduc to four-year contract
The Montreal Canadiens signed forward Zach Bolduc to a four-year contract that will pay him an average annual value of $4.2 million, according to Sportsnet hockey insider Elliotte Friedman.
In 2025-26, Bolduc scored 12 goals and recorded a career-high 18 assists to finish with 30 points in 78 regular-season games with the Canadiens. He also had three goals and four assists for seven points in 19 Stanley Cup Playoff games that spring, helping Montreal reach the Eastern Conference Final.

Across parts of three NHL seasons, Bolduc has 36 goals and 39 assists for 75 points in 175 career regular-season games with the Habs and St. Louis Blues. He was acquired by Montreal from St. Louis in a trade in July 2025 that sent Logan Mailloux to the Blues.
Taken with the No. 17 overall pick in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft, Bolduc spent four seasons with the QMJHL’s Rimouski Oceanic and Quebec Remparts, where he scored 145 goals and 145 assists for 290 points in 207 career games. During his junior career, he had two 50-goal campaigns, and in his final season, recorded 110 points to help the Remparts win the league championship.
The Canadiens went 48-24-10 with 106 points in 2025-26, good for second in the Atlantic Division, third in the Eastern Conference and fifth in the entire NHL.
Captain Nick Suzuki finished fifth in the NHL in assists with 72 and sixth in points with 101. Cole Caufield became the first Montreal skater to record 50 goals in a single season since Stephane Richer did in 1989-90. His 51 goals ranked second in the league, just two behind Nathan MacKinnon’s 53.
