NHL Fantasy Briefs: Carolina Hurricanes

No-brainers

Players you should be drafting in all standard formats:

  • Eric Staal: If the ‘Canes are going to do big things this year, Staal is the guy to start it off.
  • Jordan Staal: Coming off of a stellar season filling in for Crosby and now united with big bro’.
  • Alexander Semin: Not even a rocket science could figure this guy out.  You have to like the situation, though.
  • Jeff Skinner: Forget about him?  Entering his third year, Skinner will certainly produce anywhere in the lineup.
  • Cam Ward: If you are expecting wins we are, you will want to own Ward.

Deep stuff

Players you’ll take as a flier at the end of your draft or in deeper leagues.  Think 12-16 teams with multiple forward and util spots.

  • Joni Pitkanen: Limited last season but a consistent assist machine.
  • Justin Faulk: Has the potential to build off of a rookie season where 5 of his 8 goals came on the powerplay.
  • Jamie McBain: Likely to get more playing time over Faulk, McBain will also contribute on the powerplay.
NHL Fantasy Briefs will take quick daily look at all 30 NHL teams and analyze their fantasy prospects.  We don’t have a fantasy season, yet – but you will want to be ready when we do!
