NHL Fantasy Briefs: Colorado Avalanche

No-brainers

Players you should be drafting in all standard formats:

  • Semyon Varlamov: Regrouped to finish the season on a solid note.
  • Gabriel Landeskog: The new captain can only expect to improve on his 22-goal rookie season.

Deep stuff

Players you’ll take as a flier at the end of your draft or in deeper leagues.  Think 12-16 teams with multiple forward and util spots.

  • P.A. Parenteau: Heavy on the PIMs and assists last season but will that success translate to Colorado?
  • Paul Stastny: Dimishing totals and a deep center position should leave Stastny on waivers.
  • Matt Duchene: The only way to go is up, right?
  • Steve Downie: PIM monster but without one of the top Lightning centers, can he contribute on the scoresheet?
  • Erik Johnson: Here’s hoping he returns back to 30+ points.
NHL Fantasy Briefs will take quick daily look at all 30 NHL teams and analyze their fantasy prospects.  We don’t have a fantasy season, yet – but you will want to be ready when we do!
