Hall Lost for Season After Shoulder Surgery

The Oilers’ official Twitter account confirmed our suspicions– Taylor Hall will miss the rest of the season. Feel free to drop him in all single-season formats.

Dear Taylor Hall owners,

I don’t know how to come out and say this, so here it goes. Last night, your boy was just destroyed. With Calgary Flames defenseman Cory Sarich approaching Hall turned into the puck, slipped, and was hit directly in the side of the head. At 6’4″, Sarich is no slouch, and no stranger to making a big hit. Had he not made contact with Hall’s head, it still would have hurt. But now, it probably hurts a bit more.

Let’s take a look at the damage.

His Edmonton Oilers immediately removed the phenom from the game; he played only 39 seconds. Due to concussion protocol, he should miss at least a week, giving him two more weeks of the regular season to recover. With 63 points, the Oilers sit 29th in the standings– Do they really need to rush Hall back? Didn’t think so.

Hall is questionable at best to play the remainder of the season. Surely questions of his reckless style of play will resurface due to this recent injury. It may be a risk you take as an owner every season. But until he stops scoring with frequency, there is no reason to not milk every last point out of him. Just have a backup plan should he inevitably get hurt.
