Ondrej Pavelec off IR; Mannino sent down

UPDATE 10/25/10 @ 11:01 AM:  Pavelec has come off of IR with backup Peter Mannino sent back to the Chicago Wolves of the AHL.  While there has been no immediate news as to when the young Slovak will return, coming off IR seems like an excellent start.

UPDATE 10/19/10 @ 1:31 PM:  Pavelec returned to the ice today for the first time since fainting on opening night.  There still has been no timetable for his immediate return as he will not be ready for either of the Thrashers’ upcoming games, but he seems optimistic:

“I was so excited to go back [on the ice] and see how it would go,” Pavelec said after taking part in half a team practice. “It was pretty good. It was only 30 minutes but I felt good.”

UPDATE 10/10/10 @ 8:35 PM: This statement came from Pavelec’s agent, Allan Walsh:  “G Ondrej Pavelec of Atlanta was released from the hospital this afternoon and is home resting. I think we’ll see him back in action soon.”  We hope Pavelec the best and that he gets back on the ice soon.  There has still been nothing released as to why he initially collapsed.

Ondrej Pavelec lost consciousness during the beginning of tonight’s game.  He was transported to a local hospital where he is reportedly awake and in stable condition.  Truly a scary incident and we hope the young and promising netminder recovers quickly.

For the time being Chris Mason will take over the starting duties with someone recalled from the Chicago Wolves.
