Alexander Ovechkin left Sunday night’s game against Columbus about six minutes into the second period and did not return. After the game Ovechkin refused to comment on what the injury was, but mentioned it was “upper-body” and that he was “day-to-day”. The Capitals have a scheduled day off tomorrow so an update might not come until practice on Tuesday. No need to panic yet. Ovechkin leads the NHL with 14 goals and 23 points. Bruce Boudreau started the game with Ovechkin on a line with
Brendan Morrison and
Mike Knuble.
Nicklas Backstrom was between
Tomas Fleischmann and
Alexander Semin on the second line.
