Picks: Atlanta Looks to End Skid at Home

4-8: We’re here to have fun, right?

Looking for a great sportsbook site to place your bets? I use and trust Bodog to place my hockey bets but if you are looking for a site where you can bet for free, try CentSports. You always have a minimum of 10 cents to start off and let you bet on the NHL and other sports. When you increase your balance, you are eligible to cash out! Remember that I post these picks for fun and I encourage you to do the same (i.e. don’t bet what you can’t afford to lose). All lines are provided by Bodog and are current at the time of posting.

Tampa Bay Lightning +130 at Atlanta Thrashers -150

A quick one here.  The Lightning are likely to go with Antero Niittymaki, the league leader in GAA and SV%, and the Thrashers are likely to start Ondrej Pavelec, who is back on his game.  Both of these teams went under last night and I see more of the same tonight.  The Lightning have gone under the game total in 7 of Niittymaki’s 9 starts on the season and have pushed overtime in 5.  Pavelec traditionally goes over the game total but it’s up to the Lightning to start putting pucks past him.  Tampa Bay has the 2nd-worst road scoring, 2.1 goals per game, but Atlanta features the 3rd-best home offense, 3.7 goals per game.  It’ll take a big collapse by Tampa Bay to let Atlanta approach those numbers as Niittymaki is 13-0 with a 1.78 GAA and .938 SV% lifetime vs. Tampa Bay.  If we see other goalies than our likely starters, this game could very easily go over but 6 goals is a tall order for the best goalie in the league right now.
Pick: Under 6.0 goals +100
