Picks: Avs Looking To Remain Unbeaten At Home

It’s never a good night when the Kings and Wings, both big favourites, get upset by less-than-stellar opponents.  However, we also saw the Devils stay undefeated on the road last night and tonight, the Avs get a good matchup as they look to stay undefeated at home.

Edmonton Oilers +160 at Colorado Avalanche -180

The Avs are a perfect 6-0 and outscoring opponents 24-11 at home this season including winning by 2 or more goals in 4 of those 6 games.  The Oilers, still injury-ridden, have only won 1 of their last 7 games and have been outscored 19-11 over that stretch.  Edmonton has the league’s 5th-worst road offense, only averaging 2.0 goals per game, which will have a tough time cracking the Avs’ second-best 1.8 goals allowed per game at home.  To add to it, the Avs also have the second best home offense, 4.0 goals per game, which Edmonton might have trouble handling, considering they average 3.1 goals allowed per game on the year.  Colorado is streaking and riding their hot goaltending and it’s tough to go against them when they are perfect at home.  The Avs have, surprisingly, been favoured only 3 times this season and have won each time.  Look for them to continue that here.
Pick: Avs -1.5 +170
