Picks: Ducks Look for 4 Straight at Home

Updated: November 30, 2009 at 11:38 am by Matt Bennett

Shootouts ruined a few bets last night as well as a Washington goal with the game just about over but that’s the joys of picking for the NHL.  We’re looking at Phoenix and Anaheim tonight!

Looking for a great sportsbook site to place your bets? I use and trust Bodog to place my hockey bets but if you are looking for a site where you can bet for free, try CentSports. You always have a minimum of 10 cents to start off and let you bet on the NHL and other sports. When you increase your balance, you are eligible to cash out! Remember that I post these picks for fun and I encourage you to do the same (i.e. don’t bet what you can’t afford to lose). All lines are provided by Bodog and are current at the time of posting.

Phoenix Coyotes +130 at Anaheim Ducks -150

The Coyotes are really struggling to generate any consistency right now.  They have scattered 5 wins over 13 games so far this month after going 9-5 to open the season.  In 3 straight road losses, Phoenix has only averaged 1.0 goal per game contributing to the 3rd-best road offense overall – they are 1-4-1 in their last 6 road games. Their road record is now 6-6-1 but still feature the 4th-best road defense, 2.3 goals against per game.  Anaheim is on a roll, winning 3 straight and 4 of their last 5 thanks to superb goaltending by Jean-Sebastien Giguere.  They’ve managed 3 goals per game against some tough defenses like Chicago and Calgary and restricted opponents to 1.3 goals per game over that streak.  The home team has taken each of their two meetings so far this season and I like the Ducks to continue that trend tonight.
Pick: Ducks -150

Fan Favourite Record: 9-10, -3.05

Betting results by category so far this season:

  • Money Line 54-61, -15.17
  • Puck Line 10-18, -2.5
  • Game Totals 45-38-1, +0.99
