Picks: Frustrated Wings Roll Into Vancouver

42-39-1: Did you see a collapse by both Hiller AND Bryzgalov last night?  I sure didn’t.  Poor efforts by both netminders and it resulted in game totals far greater than they should have been.  The Wild are the first team in 13 years to go 0-8 on the road.  Just one pick tonight and if I see a Luongo collapse tonight I’m going to flip.

Detroit Red Wings -115 at Vancouver Canucks -105

These two teams have opposite records over their last 5 games, the Wings going 1-4, losing 3 straight, and the Canucks going 4-1, winning 3 straight.  It appears as if Luongo is over his early October slump after registering a 27-save shutout against the high-scoring Oilers on Sunday.  Luongo has a 1.21 GAA over his last 5 starts and is 5-1 with a 1.82 GAA at home this season.  Osgood, on the other hand, hasn’t fared much success on the road this year and has a 5.08 GAA in 2 road starts, and 3.16 GAA on the season.  Detroit also can’t seem to score right now, mind you, they did post 49 shots against Craig Anderson in Colorado and could only get 1 past him (also went 0-8 on the powerplay).  It looks as if they won’t have much more luck against Luongo.  The Canucks haven’t been scoring more than they need to win, not netting more than 3 goals in 6 straight games, going under in 5 of them.  The Wings have score more than 3 goals in only 1 game this season, a 5-2 win at home against the Kings.  In addition, 4 of the last 6 meetings between the Canucks and Wings have gone under the posted game total.
Pick: Under 5.5 goals +100

I’m not going anywhere near the Flyers vs. Caps tonight.  That game could easily end in either teams’ favour and at either end of the the game total.  Watch the game though, it does promise to be very entertaining.
