Matt Moulson News

Moulson has cleared waivers and been assigned to Rochester (AHL).

Moulson, 34, failed to record a point in 14 games with the Sabres this season, leading to him being placed on waivers on Monday. Moulson struggled since signing with the Sabres prior to the 2014-15 season, registering just 94 points (35G / 59A) in 253 games. He will play in the AHL for the first time since 2008-09.

Moulson (illness) will be back in the Sabres’ lineup on Saturday.

Moulson missed the last three games with an illness, but will be back in tonight vs. the Islanders. Moulson underwent tests for mumps, but was lucky to be dealing with just the flu. Moulson has three goals in his last four games and has 15 points (7G / 8A) in 32 games.

The Sabres have signed Matt Moulson to a five-year deal worth $25 million.

In 44 games with the Sabres last season, Moulson scored 11 goals and 18 assists (29 points). It was a tough year for the 30-year-old, who played for three different teams. He heads back to Buffalo after clearly enjoying his short stay with the NHL's worst teams last year.

Moulson (lower-body) will not play in game 4 on Friday.

Moulson will miss at least Game 4 with a lower-body injury that coach Mike Yeo said the veteran has been battling through for a while. It may explain why Moulson, acquired to add goal-scoring pop in the playoffs, has been so ineffective this series (one assist) and has only one goal in 10 playoff games.

Moulson will be bumped to the third line to play with Erik Haula and Justin Fontaine.

The Wild have not seen the offensive production they were expecting out of Moulson when they acquired him from Buffalo at the trade deadline. He had 13 points (6G / 7A) in 20 games in the regular season, but has registered just one goal and one assist in nine postseason games. Nino Niederreiter will take his spot on the top-line with Mikko Koivu and Charlie Coyle.

The Sabres have traded Matt Moulson and Cody McCormick to the Wild for Torrey Mitchell, a 2014 second-round pick and 2016 second-round pick.

Moulson is on his way to his third team this season. He has a total of 17 goals and 21 assists (38 points) in 55 games between the Sabres and Islanders. This is the second straight season that the Wild have added an impact winger at the deadline by making a trade with the Sabres (J. Pominville in 2013). Moulson will likely find himself in the top-6 with Mikael Granlund or Mikko Koivu as his pivot.

Moulson (upper-body) will play on Tuesday.

Moulson missed the last four games before the Olympic break with an upper-body injury. Since being traded to Buffalo from New York, Moulson has tallied nine goals and 15 assists (24 points) in 40 games. Moulson remains a topic of trade rumours as the trade deadline draws near. Being dealt from a low-scoring Sabres team to a playoff contender should help boost his fantasy numbers.

Moulson is expected to be out until after the Olympic break with an upper-body injury.

Moulson was rocked by Shane Doan in Thursday's 3-2 win over the Coyotes and will likely cost him the next four games leading up to the break. Moulson has recorded 24 points (9G / 15A) in 40 games since being traded to the Sabres.

As expected Matt Moulson will play on the Cody Hodgson line.

Moulson's value could take a hit as he leaves his close friend Tavares and lands on a line with a 23-year-old, just finding his way in the NHL. He has said he is going to "play his game", but how will that game work without Tavares? He will make his Sabres debut tonight vs. Dallas.

The Islanders have traded Matt Moulson, their 2014 1st-round pick and a 2015 2nd-round pick to Buffalo for Thomas Vanek.

Moulson had six goals and three assists in 11 games. He is a three time 30-goal scorer alongside John Tavares, but he now moves to a rebuilding Buffalo team and will likely find himself on a line with Cody Hodgson.
