Jake Allen News

With the recent acquisition of three-time Vezina winner Connor Hellebuyck, Allen will likely see a lighter workload for the Devils, but he will tend the twine on Wednesday in the tail end of a back-to-back. The 36-year-old Allen has been serviceable, albeit unspectacular this season, posting a 2.84 GAA and .886 SV% in seven games (5-2-0). He had a light workload in his most recent outing, saving 12 of 13 shots (.923 SV%) in a 3-1 win over the Los Angeles Kings. The Devils enter Wednesday's matchup as +124 road underdogs against a Colorado Avalanche team that has lost three of its last four games (1-3-0).

After trading Jacob Markstrom in the offseason, the Devils are rolling with a makeshift goalie tandem of Jake Allen and Nico Daws. The 36-year-old Allen has started 35 or fewer games in six of his past seven seasons, and his 2026-27 start hasn't been overly reassuring. Allen has allowed four or more goals in three of five games (3-2-0), posting a 3.18 GAA and .876 SV%. Still, the Devils enter Tuesday's contest as slight -110 home favourites against a Colorado Avalanche team that lost 3-2 last night to the Philadelphia Flyers.

The Devils are coming off a 4-1 loss to the Ottawa Senators yesterday and will return to Allen on Tuesday. The 36-year-old Allen has been serviceable early in the 2026-27 season, outdueling counterpart Nico Daws, posting a 2.65 GAA and .896 SV% in three games (2-1-0). The Devils enter Tuesday's contest as -105 road favourites against a Detroit Red Wings team that has scored only 10 goals in five games this season (1-3-1).

The 36-year-old Allen has started 35 or fewer games in six of his past seven seasons, so it's unclear if the team will rely on him more heavily in 2026-27, but he was stellar in his only outing so far, saving 23 of 25 shots (.920 SV%) in a 3-2 overtime victory over the Philadelphia Flyers. The Devils enter Tuesday as -122 home favourites against a Utah Mammoth team that has outscored its opposition 12-5 through games this season (2-1-0).

With Jake Allen and Nico Daws as their goaltending tandem at the start of the 2026-27 season, it's unclear who the Devils will rely on more, but they will turn to Allen in their season opener against the Philadelphia Flyers. The 36-year-old Allen has started 35 or fewer games in six of his past seven seasons. He had a 2.74 GAA and .903 SV% in 37 appearances in 2025-26 (17-17-2). The Devils enter Thursday's contest as -168 home favourites against a Flyers team coming off a dreadful 7-0 season opener last night against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Allen has given up three-plus goals in five straight outings, going 3-1-1 with a 3.35 GAA and .885 SV%. Tonight he'll face a desperate Red Wings team, who he has not faced this season, but Allen is 7-9-0 with a 2.58 GAA and .911 SV% on the road.
