The Senators signed Alex Burrows to a two-year extension worth $5M ($2.5M AAV) with a partial no-trade clause.

Burrows was acquired from the Canucks on Monday and it is believed that the Senators agreed to an extension with him before the trade. Burrows’ better days appear to be behind him, but he has nine goals and 11 assists (20 points) in 55 games this season—that is tied for 11th on the team.

Burrows has collected nine goals and 11 assists (20 points) in 55 games with the Canucks this season. The veteran winger is five years removed from his 28-goal, 52-point season in 2011-12 and it appears his best years are behind him. Expect Burrows to slot in on the Senators’ third line.

Burrows (upper-body) has been taken to hospital; will not play in Game 4.

Burrows was injured in practice on Tuesday and had to leave the ice. After being evaluated by the Canucks medical staff he was loaded onto a stretcher and brought to the hospital for precautionary reasons. His hospital visit suggests that he might have something serious going on. He is expected to be replaced by Sven Baertschi, who was recalled from Utica (AHL) this afternoon.

Burrows (groin) will play on Tuesday.

Burrows missed Saturday’s game against the Maple Leafs, but will be back tomorrow vs. the Flyers. Burrows was skating with Brad Richardson and Chris Higgins this morning, so expect him to be on that third line tomorrow. He has 25 points (12G / 13A) in 56 games this season.

Burrows (groin) will be a game-time decision on Thursday.

Burrows has missed the last six games, but it looks like he will return tonight in warmups. He took part in line rushes in the Canucks top-6 and Willie Desjardins said a couple players will return tonight, but didn’t sat whom. Presumably that will but Burrows, who has 25 points (12G / 13A) in 52 games this season.

Burrows moves to the Canucks top-line on Monday.

Burrows was skating with Daniel and Henrik Sedin at Canucks’ practice this afternoon. It looks more like a move to have Radim Vrbata jump-start the second line, but either way, Burrows gets a chance to play with the Sedin’s again. Burrows has three goals and three assists in his last eight games.
