Dan Hamhuis News

Hamhuis will be a healthy scratch on Monday.

Hamhuis has picked up just five assists in 21 games in his first season with the Stars. He has been held pointless in his last six games and played a season-low 16:03 TOI on Friday. He will serve as a healthy scratch for the second time this season, which means Patrik Nemeth will draw back into the lineup.

The Stars have signed Dan Hamhuis for a two-year deal worth $7.5 million ($3.75M AAV).

Hamhuis, 33, was heavily rumoured to the Stars at last season’s trade deadline, but he really wanted to stay in Vancouver and finish out the season. He had 13 points (3G / 10A) in 58 games with the Canucks and now lands in Dallas after all. The big loser in this signing is the Canucks, who lose him for nothing. The Stars lost both Kris Russell and Jason Demers in free agency, so Hamhuis comes in and fills that second-pairing defenseman void.

The Blackhawks have acquired Christian Ehrhoff from the Kings for Rob Scuderi.

Ehrhoff, 33, has been acquired by the Blackhawks to provide depth on the blueline. He has not been the same player since having concussion issues with the Penguins last season. He had 10 points (2G / 8A) in 40 games with the Kings and three assists in five games with Ontario (AHL) this season. He has offensive ability, but likely won’t play a large enough role in Chicago to be a fantasy contributor.
