Cody Hodgson News

Hodgson out; Stewart in.

Hodgson will serve as a healthy scratch tonight vs. the Flames. He has one goals and three points in 28 games this season, so he will be a healthy scratch for the first time in his career. “Maybe a game watching will get him out of that funk,” Sabres coach Ted Nolan said this morning. Chris Stewart will get back into the lineup for Hodgson.

Hodgson has been demoted to the Sabres fourth line.

If there is anything that can hurt your fantasy value more than playing for the Buffalo Sabres, it is playing on the fourth line for the Sabres. Hodgson has one goal and one assist with a minus-7 rating in 10 games this season. He is safe to cut ties with until something changes, which is unlikely.

Hodgson will move back to centre on Tuesday.

Head coach Ted Nolan said that Hodgson's stay on the wing is over because the centres could not get him the puck. Hodgson will shift back to the middle between Marcus Foligno and Chris Stewart tonight vs. Carolina.

Hodgson (finger) will be back in the Sabres' lineup tomorrow vs. the Capitals.

Hodgson has missed the last nine games, but will return on Sunday when the Sabres travel to Washington. He will skate on the second line with Matt D'Agostini and Steve Ott as well as centring the first power-play unit. Hodgson has 19 points (8G / 11A) with a minus-10 rating in 33 games this season.

Hodgson (finger) skated in a non-contact sweater this morning for the first time since getting injured on December 19.

Hodgson missed the last eight games with a finger injury. Despite missing all that time, Hodgson remains the Sabres' leader in points with 19 (8G / 11A). This is a positive step in Hodgson's return to the lineup.

Hodgson (wrist) will be out until the New Year.

Brian Flynn who moved up to Hodgson's spot on Wednesday will stay there tonight and Linus Omark will draw in on the fourth line. Hodgson is one of the Sabres' best forwards so losing his offence is huge for a team who are already seriously lacking offensive pop.

Cody Hodgson will miss tonight's game against Senators with lower-body injury.

Ville Leino will draw into the lineup with Hodgson out. Hodgson had seven goals and nine assists (16 points) in his first 22 games but has registered just one goal and one assist in his last nine games. Consider him day-to-day.

The Buffalo Sabres announced Wednesday night that the team has re-signed forward Cody Hodgson to a long-term multi-year contract extension. The 23-year-old Hodgson came into training camp as a restricted free agent.

Hodgson appeared in all 48 games in 2012-13, finishing second among all Sabres skaters with 15 goals and 34 points. In parts of four NHL seasons, he has appeared in 139 games between the Sabres and Vancouver Canucks, tallying 77 points (35G and 42 A).

AV on Hodgson's status: "He's fine. He wanted to play, but our medical staff felt he should stay out. He should be okay".

The last thing the Canucks need is another forward injury after playing Andrew Alberts on the fourth line earlier in the week. The former 10th overall pick has played well in his rookie season with six goals and 15 points on the year. Don't expect the third liner to miss any playing time.
