Matt Stajan News

Stajan has been granted a leave of absence for the birth of his child.

Stajan is not expected to be in the lineup on Tuesday because he and his wife are expecting the birth of their child. He is listed as a non-roster player right now, which allowed the Flames to recall Emile Poirier from Adirondack (AHL).

Stajan (knee) will be back in the Flames lineup on Saturday.

Stajan has missed the last 16 games with a knee injury, but will return tomorrow vs. San Jose. The 30-year-old does not bring much in the way of offence, but is a reliable two-way centre that will help the Flames in both ends of the rink.

Stajan (knee) expected to miss 4-6 weeks.

Stajan suffered the knee injury in a knee-on-knee collision with Jared Tinordi on Tuesday. There is no news on the nature of the injury, but it will keep him out for at least one month, potential longer. The original reports were that he might have suffered ligament damage, but that timeline does not suggest such an injury.

Stajan's knee injury is believed to be severe.

Early reports are that Stajan likely suffered ligament damage, which would sideline him for a lengthy period of time. With that news, it is not surprising that he was not on the ice this morning. While a severe knee injury is not confirmed, that is what it sounds like at this time.

Stajan has returned to Calgary and will not play Thursday due to personal reasons.

T.J Galliardi will get back into the lineup with Stajan out. Stajan missed eight games in March because of the death of his newborn son. There is no word if this absence is related to that tragedy.

No timetable for Stajan's (personal) return to the Flames lineup.

Stajan and his wife lost their newborn son who was born on March 3. He has missed the last four games and there is no word when he plans to return to the team. With the Flames way out of the playoff race and with the unimaginable grief that Stajan and his family must be dealing with, there is no reason for him to rush back to the lineup.
