Anton Belov News
Belov has missed the last last 10 games with an oblique injury, but could return on Saturday if coach Eakins decides to insert him into the lineup. Belov's return gives the Oilers eight healthy defensemen.
Belov suffered a partially torn oblique muscle and will miss at least two weeks. Belov missed Saturday's meeting with the Flames and will be sidelined until mid-March at the very least.
There is no word on what the nature of Belov's is, but it will keep him out of tonight's 'Battle of Alberta'. Expect Mark Fraser to replace Belov.
"[The rookie] has been thrust into maybe a bigger role than he should be." head coach Dallas Eakins says. "Time to give him a rest for a game." Belov has not recorded a point in his last seven games. The rookie defenseman has averaged 19:32 TOI while recording four assists and a minus-6 rating in 27 games this season.
Belov will join Justin Schultz in the press box tomorrow when the Oilers take on the Panthers. With two defenseman out, someone will be called up from Oklahoma City (AHL). Belov has three assists and a minus-5 rating in 15 games.
