Johan Franzen News

Franzen (undisclosed) did not practice on Wednesday.

Franzen was a late scratch from Tuesday’s game vs. the Lightning and was not on the ice for this afternoon’s practice. With Franzen out, Tomas Jurco played in the Red Wings top six. Consider Franzen day-to-day and monitor his status prior to Friday’s game vs. Carolina.

Franzen (concussion) is expected to make his preseason debut on Thursday.

Franzen has been out since January 6th because of concussion issues. Franzen said he never considered retirement and he is excited to get back on the ice tonight. When he is healthy, Franzen is a quality goal scorer, but he is a huge injury risk heading into the 2015-16 fantasy season.

Franzen is day-to-day with an upper-body injury.

Franzen was a late scratch in the Red Wings win over the Flames last night. The Red Wings returned to Detroit late last night, so Franzen should undergo some tests today and a more detailed injury report should be released before they take-off for Washington in advance of Saturday’s game.

Franzen (illness) is not taking part in the Red Wings’ morning skate.

Franzen missed Monday’s practice and is not on the ice this morning, which puts his status for tonight’s game in jeopardy. Expect an update from coach Mike Babcock following the morning skate. If he can not go, Daniel Cleary will remain in the lineup.

Franzen (groin) will be back in the Red Wings lineup on Sunday.

Franzen missed the last six games with a groin injury that he suffered in on October 17th vs. Toronto. In four games this season, he had two goals and three assists. He will skate on the Wings' second line with Darren Helm and Gustav Nyquist.

Franzen (groin) did not rule out a return Friday.

Franzen will miss his fifth straight game on Wednesday and he is hopeful that he will be back by Sunday, but did not rule out his potential return on Friday vs. Los Angeles. Franzen has two goals and three assists in four games and will provide a boost to the Red Wings top-6, but it will likely spell the end of Andrej Nestrasil's run with the Red Wings.

Franzen (leg) is not at practice Monday morning.

Franzen missed Saturday's win over the Maple Leafs with leg spasms and he is not on the ice this morning, which suggests that he will likely miss Tuesday's clash with the Habs as well. With Franzen sidelined, Justin Abdelkader will remain on the Red Wings' top line with Stephen Weiss skating on the third line (unless Pavel Datsyuk returns).

Franzen (leg) is on the ice for warmups but not taking part in warmups; not expected to play.

Franzen had leg spasms last night that forced him from the game vs. Toronto and it looks like it will keep him out of the lineup tonight. Justin Abdelkader will skate with Henrik Zetterberg and Gustav Nyquist while Stephen Weiss will make his season debut.
