Thomas Hickey News

The Islanders have recalled Thomas Hickey from Bridgeport (AHL).

Hickey has only appeared in 14 hockey games this season, all with Bridgeport, and has picked up three assists. With Johnny Boychuk requiring 90 stitches after taking a skate to the face on Tuesday, it seems like Hickey could make his season debut on Thursday. He had four assists in 40 NHL games last year.

The Islanders have sent Thomas Hickey to Bridgeport (AHL) on a conditioning stint.

Hickey has been out with an upper-body injury since December 17th. With the Islanders playing well there is no need to rush Hickey back, so he will play at least a couple of games with Bridgeport this weekend before likely returning to Brooklyn next week.

The Islanders have re-signed Thomas Hickey to a four-year deal worth $10M ($2.5M AAV).

Hickey was the No.4 overall pick in 2007 and has enjoyed moderate success during his first six seasons with the Islanders. Hickey is coming off of a career-year, picking up 25 points (5G / 20A) in 69 games. He is a very mobile, puck-moving defenseman who will be a key part of the Isles’ top-4.

The Islanders activated Thomas Hickey (upper-body) from IR.

Hickey has missed the last four games with an upper-body injury but it looks like he’ll be ready to return tonight vs. the Red Wings. To activate Hickey, Calvin de Haan (upper-body) was moved to IR. Hickey has just one goal and four assists in 21 games this season.
