Ales Hemsky News

Renney said #Oilers will re-introduce Hemsky to contact onSunday: "We'll get some pushing and shoving and see how he makes out with that."

Hemsky's return should help the Oilers offense put a few more pucks in the net. However, he likely won't push any of his teammates off the top line as the top line continues to dominate.

Ales Hemsky is back on the ice with his teammates for the first time since the 2nd game of the season. Back at practice is a good sign...

Certainly a good sign that he is practicing with the team. Expect it to be a little while before he returns to the lineup.

Renney does not expect Hemsky back skating with the team this week. That means the timeline is delayed from where it was set a week ago.

Sounds like yet another year of touch-and-go with Hemsky. Last season he only played in 47 contests and has missed five of the last seven which prorates to under 25 games. Keep him only if you have available space on your bench.

Hemsky says he'll be back on the ice in a week, and hopefully in the lineup a week after that. So...2 weeks is the window for now.

In the meantime, Jordan Eberle will take his place on the top line. Stay tuned for a further update on the often-injured winger.

#Oilers Hemsky cleared for contact but probably won't play this weekend. Wants to get in at least two games before regular season.

Getting into games prior to the regular season essentially guarantees his health when the season begins. Last season Hemsky was limited to 47 games but performed well with 14 goals and 42 points. Expect him to line up with Taylor Hall and Sam Gagner.

Hemsky, who had shoulder surgery in March, will be re-assessed in a week.

Hemsky was planning on getting healthy for the beginning of the season but it appears he will now have a setback. The often-injured winger has missed 105 games over the last three seasons. Expect a winger like Jordan Eberle or Taylor Hall to benefit from his absence.
