The Capitals have signed Alex Chiasson to a one-year deal worth $660K.
Chiasson, 27, spent last year in Calgary after two years in Ottawa and had 12 goals and 12 assists (24 points) in 81 games. Chiasson will make his Capitals debut on the third line while Tom Wilson is suspended.
The Flames acquired Alex Chiasson from the Senators for Pat Sieloff. Chiasson signed a one-year deal with Calgary following the trade.
Chiasson, 25, struggled in two years with the Senators, collecting just 19 goals and 21 assists (40 points) in 153 games. The former second round pick (38th overall in 2009) was a key piece in the Jason Spezza trade, but has not been able to gain traction in the NHL.

Chiasson hasn’t registered a point since December 12th. He has just five points (2G / 3A) and a minus-6 rating in 40 games this season. Chiasson will take a seat because Milan Michalek (finger) is returning to the lineup.

The Stars have traded Alex Chiasson, prospects Alex Guptill, Nicholas Paul and a 2nd round pick in 2015 to the Senators for Jason Spezza and Ludwig Karlsson.
Chiasson, 23, recorded 35 points (13G / 22A) in 79 games for the Stars last season. Chiasson is a big forward at 6-foot-4, 205 lbs. and has shown an ability to score in the NHL. At this point in his career, Chiasson will likely find himself in the Senators top-9 opposed to the top-6.
Chiasson (personal) will not play Tuesday.
Chiasson did not travel to St. Louis with the Stars because he was shaken up by the Rich Peverley collapsing incident last night. Chiasson is reportedly doing better today. Colton Sceviour and Chris Mueller will be recalled to replace Peverley and Chiasson tonight.

Chaisson was hit in the face be a puck that deflected off of the stick of Jordie Benn in practice Wednesday. He was wearing a clear facemask along with his visor and skating in his normal spot this morning. “Yesterday, for an hour or two, it was kind of scary,” Chiasson said. “I’m glad I’m good. It’s part of the game, and it’s nobody’s fault. It’s going to be sore for a couple of days, but I’ll be OK to go tonight.”

Stars forward Alex Chiasson left Wednesday’s practice after taking a puck to the face. It happened early in the practice. Chiasson left with a member of the team’s medical staff and did not return.
Stars coach Lindy Ruff did not have much of an update after practice. “I know he got hit in the face and he’s going to be evaluated,” Ruff said. “He hit him pretty hard, so we are concerned there might be some damage.” At this point, Chiasson’s status for Thursday’s game against the New York Rangers at is up in the air.
