Lyon stopped 29 of 32 shots (.906 SV%) for his second-straight win as he beat Minnesota in his first start of the season for Florida. The 30-year-old veteran has been solid in his limited action while filling in for the injured Florida Panthers, with his 2-0-0 record, .912 SV% and 2.55 GAA. He will face the New York Rangers, who lost their previous contest 3-1 to Boston but are seventh in the NHL in shots per game (32.9).

The reasoning for Lyon's recall has not yet come out but he had been having a mediocre season in Charlotte (AHL) prior to the promotion with a 6-5-2 record, .903 SV% and 2.80 GAA.

With Antti Raanta dealing with an upper-body injury, Lyon has been summoned from the AHL to serve as the Hurricanes No.2 netminder. The 28-year-old netminder has gone 2-1-0 with a 2.35 GAA and .891 SV% in three AHL games this season.
