Anders Nilsson News

Nilsson will start Thursday vs. the Kings.

Nilsson allowed two goals on 34 shots in the Senators' win in New York on Monday. It was a nice bounce-back effort for Nilsson, who struggled in his previous outing. The 29-year-old has gone 2-3-1 with a 3.12 GAA and .922 SV% in six games this year and faces the Kings on Thursday. Los Angeles has lost its last four road games while scoring just 1.25 goals per game.

Nilsson was pulled after he gave up four goals on 16 shots in the Senators' loss to the Islanders on October 25th. Craig Anderson started the last two games but Nilsson will get the call in New York. Prior to his last start, Nilsson had posted a .955 SV% in his previous three starts, but he's been wildly inconsistent throughout his career and is very difficult to trust. On the flip side, the Rangers come in having won three of four while averaging 4.00 goals per game.

Senators will stick with Nilsson on Friday.

Nilsson allowed two goals on 36 shots in the Senators win over the Red Wings on Wednesday. Nilsson is playing outstanding hockey right now, making 127 saves on the last 133 shots (.955 SV%) that he has faced in his last three outings. He has a chance to stay hot on Friday when the Senators host an Islanders team on the tail-end of a back-to-back.

Nilsson stopped 41 of 43 shots in the Senators' loss in Dallas on Monday. Nilsson was outstanding for the second straight game but the Senators offence couldn't help him out. The 29-year-old netminder has stopped 93 of the last 97 shots (.959 SV%) that he has faced and is an intriguing option against a struggling Red Wings team that is on the tail-end of a back-to-back.

Nilsson stopped 52 of the 54 shots that he faced in Ottawa's shootout loss in Vegas last Thursday. It was an outstanding performance for Nilsson, who is 0-1-1 while allowing seven goals on 90 shots (.922 SV%) in two starts. Nilsson is always a risky option but tonight's matchup looks decent. Ottawa has lost five of their last six while averaging just 1.83 goals per game.

Nilsson will start Thursday in Vegas.

Nilsson allowed five goals on 36 shots in the Senators' loss to the Blues last Thursday. It was not an ideal season debut and tonight he draws a terrible matchup in Vegas. Nilsson is a combined 14-20-2 on the road over the last two seasons and the Golden Knights have been one of the most dominant home teams in the league, so leave Nilsson on free agency or your bench if you’re crazy enough to roster him.

Nillson will make his season debut Thursday vs. the Blues.

Nilsson came over from the Canucks last season, going 11-11-0 with a 2.90 GAA, .914 SV% and two shutouts in 22 starts with the Senators. Nilsson drastically outplayed Craig Anderson after the trade and should see a good portion of the starts this season. He isn’t a safe option on Thursday but he did have a 35-save shutout against the Blues last March.

The Senators have signed Anders Nilsson to a two-year contract worth $5.2 million ($2.6M AAV).

Nilsson, 29, was acquired from the Canucks midseason, going 11-11-0 with a 2.90 GAA and .914 SV% in 24 games with the Senators. Nilsson figures to grab his fair share of starts in Ottawa in 2019-20 with Craig Anderson entering the final year of his contract.
