The Jets have placed Joel Armia (undisclosed) on injured reserve.

Armia is set to miss is third straight game on Tuesday and is expected to be out for an extended period of time, so the Jets moved him to IR to create a roster spot to activate Tyler Myers from IR and added Jacob Trouba to the active roster after signing him on Monday.

Armia (lower-body) left Thursday’s game; questionable for Friday’s game in Detroit.

Armia left Thursday’s game after playing 13:21 and did not return. There is no word whether or not Armia will be in the lineup on Friday—head coach Paul Maurice will not address the media until around 5 p.m. ET—Armia’s status will not be known until then.

The Jets signed Joel Armia to a two-year deal worth $1.85 million ($925K AAV) on July 14th.

Armia, 23, split his 2015-16 season between the AHL and NHL. He appeared in 43 games with the Jets, collecting 10 points (4G / 6A). In his time with Manitoba, Armia picked up eight points (3G / 5A) in 18 games. He will likely play his first full NHL season in 2016-17.

Armia (lower-body) will not play on Tuesday; expected to return on Thursday.

Armia will miss his eighth straight game with a lower-body injury, but is expected to play on Thursday. With Marko Dano playing, don't expect Armia to re-claimg his spot in the Jets’ top-6. He has four goals and four assists (eight points) in 34 games this season.

The Sabres have traded Joel Armia, Drew Stafford, Tyler Myers, Brendan Lemieux and a 1st round pick to the Jets for Evander Kane, Zach Bogosian and Jason Kasdorf.

Armia, 21, was the 16th overall pick in the 2011 draft. The 6-foot-3, 187 lbs. forward has great size and great skill. He had registered 10 goals and 15 assists (25 points) in 33 games so far in his second season with Rochester (AHL). There is no word whether he will report to St. John’s (AHL) or Winnipeg.

The Sabres' Joel Armia, one of the former first-round picks competing for a roster spot, has a broken hand and is out indefinitely.

The right winger took a slash during Wednesday's 3-0 victory over Columbus and was unable to finish the game. X-rays revealed the break, coach Ron Rolston said today. It hasn't been determined whether Armia will need surgery or if the injury will heal on its own.
