Holtby will start Saturday vs. the Flyers.

Holtby stopped 29 of 31 shots in the Capitals win over the Kings on Tuesday. It was a much-needed performance for the veteran netminder, who has played much worse than Ilya Samsonov over the last month and a half. He has gone 1-1-0 while stopping 54 of the 58 shots that he has faced in two games vs. the Flyers this season.

Holtby allowed five goals on 24 shots in the Capitals loss to the Predators last Wednesday. Holtby has gone 1-3-0 with a 3.89 GAA and .858 SV% in his last five, so his 2020 struggles continue. Holtby allowed two goals on 33 shots in the Capitals win in Montreal on Monday. Holtby snapped a personal three-game losing streak and moved to 19-9-4 on the season. He comes into Wednesday's game at 9-3-3 with a 2.75 GAA and .907 SV% on home-ice. On the other side, the Predators are 3-4-0 while scoring just 2.29 goals per game under new head coach John Hynes.

Holtby was pulled after he allowed four goals on 22 shots in the Capitals' come-from-behind win over the Islanders on January 18th. Holtby continues to struggle, giving up at least three goals in seven straight outings.
