Brandon Montour News

Montour served as a healthy scratch in New York on Tuesday but will replace Andy Welinski tonight in Brooklyn. After a night off the Ducks hope Montour can get back to being a productive defenseman. He has 16 points (6G / 10A) in 33 games this season.

After a one-game absence with a hyperextended elbow, Montour is expected to replace the traded Sami Vatanen in the lineup on Friday. Vatanen’s exit makes Montour a more appealing fantasy asset and he comes into tonight with 13 points (6G / 7A) in 24 games this season.

Montour was a healthy scratch on Sunday, but will draw back into the lineup tonight in Arizona. Montourhas one goal, one assist and is averaging 1.90 shots on goal per game in his first 11 games of the season.

Montour averaged 15:08 TOI/GM in five games since being recalled from San Diego. Montour failed to record a point and will swap places with Shea Theodore and goes back to the Gulls, where he has 21 points (7G / 14A) in 25 games this season.

Montour, 22, was a second round pick in 2014 (55th overall) and could make his NHL debut during the Ducks’ two-game road trip. He has been called up because Sami Vatanen is sick and will not be available on Thursday or Friday. Montour has seven goals and 14 assists (21 points) in 25 games with San Diego this season.
