Braydon Coburn News

The Lightning have signed Braydon Coburn to a three-year, $11.1M ($3.7M AAV) contract extension.

Coburn, 30, has picked up one goal and eight assists (nine points) in 60 games this season. Coburn was a pending free agent at the end of the season, but is now signed through the 2018-19 season. His new deal comes with a no trade clause.

Coburn (lower-body) will play in game 1.

Coburn has been out since March 10th, but he will get back into the lineup for Game 1 vs. the Red Wings. Coburn only appeared in four games with the Lightning before getting injured. In those contests he had two assists and a plus-3 rating. He will be paired with Matt Carle to start tonight.

The Lightning have acquired Braydon Coburn from the Flyers for Radko Gudas, a 2015 1st round pick and a 2015 3rd round pick.

Coburn has one more year left on his deal with a $4.5M cap-hit and the Lightning feel better about their blue line depth by adding Coburn, who has playoff experience. Coburn is mobile for a big-dude at 6-foot-5, 220 lbs. and can be a good shutdown D-man with offensive upside. He has one goal and eight assists (9 points) in 39 games this season.

Coburn (foot) is doubtful for Friday; could return on Sunday.

Coburn has been out with a broken left foot since January 12th. He was expected to miss four weeks and Thursday marked that point exactly. So his recovery was basically right on schedule, however he will be held out of Friday’s game, but should be back on Sunday in Buffalo.

Coburn (foot) returned to practice on Saturday.

Coburn had been skating alone, but he joined the main group for practice this afternoon. He was expected to miss four weeks and it has been three and a half, so it appears as if Coburn is right on schedule. He is doubtful for Sunday’s game, but should be back in the lineup next week.

Coburn (lower-body) is on the ice prior to practice this morning.

Coburn has not played since the season opener on October 8th because of a lower-body injury. He was nearing a return recently, but suffered a setback and went from day-to-day to out four weeks. They announced he would miss a month just 10 days ago, so his presence on the ice this morning suggests that he is ahead of schedule.

Coburn (lower-body) will miss four weeks.

Coburn appeared to be nearing a return on Tuesday, but clearly suffered a setback that will keep him out for another month. The Flyers also lost fellow blueliner Andrew MacDonald to a lower-body injury this week, so their blueline is looking rather thin right now. Expect a call-up to be announced this afternoon.

Coburn (lower-body) is not on the ice for Flyers practice this morning.

Coburn was set to re-join the lineup on Tuesday, but he was a late scratch, so he must have suffered a setback in warmups. The injury was originally believed to be serious, so it was surprising to see him almost returning just two weeks later. Expect an update after the Flyers' practice.

Coburn (lower-body) is a game-time decision on Tuesday.

Coburn has missed the last four games with a lower-body injury but was once again on the ice with the Flyers this morning. He originally skated on the fourth pair, which suggests he won't play, but then participated in penalty kill drills which suggests otherwise. So, we will have to wait until pregame warmups.
