Smith missed Monday’s practice because of an illness, so his status for Tuesday’s game is uncertain. Monitor his status during tomorrow’s morning skate, but if he can’t play, look for Jakub Kindl to return to the lineup.

Smith has served as a healthy scratch in the last two games but will get back into the lineup tonight in Calgary. Smith will be paired with Jonathan Ericsson and is expected to see some power-play time on the second unit. He has no points and one shot on goal in four games this season.

Smith suffered an undisclosed injury in the Red Wings’ loss to the Hurricanes last night. Thankfully for the Red Wings, Danny DeKeyser is ready to return from a foot injury. Consider Smith day-to-day.
